On Father’s Day this Sunday, we will honor or remember our fathers. Even if we didn’t know or didn’t have a good relationship with an earthly father, we have a true Father in heaven to show our gratitude and love.
Over the years, I have learned a lot about being a natural father, a grandfather, and especially a Spiritual Father.
One of the most important things I learned was the difference between being a Father and being a General to those God has given me to lead.
Too many times, I confused these ways of relating to those I care about – I was a general when I should have been a father and a father when I should have been a general! That led to hurt, confusion, and some people maybe thought I wasn’t understanding or caring.
Knowing the difference – makes all the difference for a leader.
Jesus knew the difference. He knows all about his Father God. His mission was to show the ways and thoughts of Father God to the right people in the right way at the right time.
The more we know Jesus, the more we know the Father’s ways. Then we will bring Glory to the Father as we demonstrate his ways at the right time with the right people.
“For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother” (Matt. 12:50).
