Surviving Ziklag
My prayer for you today is to remember, No matter what you are going through – God is with you – just like He was with David at Ziklag.
David faced ‘serious trouble’ at Ziklag. It was the day when he and his men returned to find all of their families were stolen, their goods taken, and the city burned by the Amalekites (1 Samuel 30). It was one of the worst days in David’s life. His men were very bitter; they blamed him for it and wanted to stone him!
Some of us have days like this. The enemy is stealing from us – and those closest to us think we should pay for it.
All Hope seems to be lost.
But this is a time to remember, God is not punishing you. Your suffering is not from God, but from your enemy.
We must act like David did, “David found strength in the LORD his God and he asked the LORD, ‘should I chase them? Will I catch them? And the LORD said, “Yes…and you will surely recover everything that was taken from you!”
And that is what happened.
David had only his faith in God – and God to help him though this ‘serious trouble.’
When you strengthen yourself in the Lord, you are standing in faith – not fear.
God will protect you. Neither the devil or any person can destroy you or steal your faith.
Keep encouraging yourself in the Lord and his Word. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 19:11).
Now, strengthen yourself, rise up in your faith, pursue, and partake of the blessings God has for you!
At the end of the day – David was victorious - and so shall you be!
See you on the battlefield,
John P. Kelly
