The Power of the Holy Spirit helps us to forgive!
As I think about this Pentecost in 2020, I recall the last thing Jesus commanded the disciples to do was to wait for the Promise of the Father – the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts1:4, 8) to be his witnesses to the end of the earth.
As His ministers, we are his witnesses at all times, in all situations, especially the most difficult ones.
It’s impossible to be a leader and not be criticized, falsely accused or betrayed. There will be many times and many people who will have negative and disparaging things to say about your ministry and character. The more your ministry influence increases, the greater the attack.
In Matt. 6:14-15, Jesus says “for if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you forgive not – neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” He said to ask God to forgive our debts as we forgive our debtors (John 6:12) and “Judge not and you shall not be judged: condemn not and you shall not be condemned, forgive and you shall be forgiven” (Luke 6:37).
There will be negative fruit in your life and ministry if you are a minister of condemnation, judgement, and unforgiveness. But, if you minister forgiveness and are not an accuser of the brethren - then your mind and heart and ministry will have greater freedom, liberty and anointing.
Be a witness like Christ was who forgave us while he was still alive on the cross.
We are forgiven to also forgive others.
The Power of the Holy Spirit helps us to forgive. Lead the way as a forgiver.
Building together with Him and you,
John P. Kelly
